Sports News: Rohit Sharma's journey as captain in Indian cricket is now over, in which he will be seen playing as a player in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia starting from October 19. Shubman Gill has been given the responsibility as the new ODI captain of Team India, behind which the selectors plan to fully prepare him for this responsibility before the year 2027. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli has also got a place in the Team India squad announced by BCCI for the ODI series, in which all cricket fans are eagerly waiting to see both of them playing on the field.

Rohit Sharma is considered one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket, with a stellar record in the limited-overs format. Since Rohit took over as captain in ODIs, the Indian team has displayed an aggressive approach on the field. Rohit Sharma's ODI record as a captain

Rohit Sharma was appointed the regular ODI captain of the Indian team in December 2021. Prior to this, Virat Kohli was handling this responsibility. Under Rohit's captaincy, Team India played a total of 56 ODI matches and managed to win 42 of them, while losing only 12 matches, while one match was tied and one match was abandoned. Rohit's win percentage as a captain in ODIs is 75 percent. Under Rohit's captaincy, Team India won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Kohli Leads India To 65

Virat Kohli is considered one of the greatest batsmen in world cricket, with an impressive batting record across all three formats. Kohli assumed the ODI captaincy in 2017, after MS Dhoni relinquished the responsibility. Under Kohli's captaincy, Team India played 95 ODI matches, winning 65 and losing 27. The Indian team's win percentage under Kohli's captaincy is 68.42.

Dhoni’s ODI Captaincy Win Record

Dhoni is considered the most successful captain of Indian cricket and is also the first captain of Indian cricket to win three ICC trophies. Dhoni was made the captain of Team India in ODIs in the year 2007, after which the Indian team played a total of 200 ODI matches under his leadership and out of these, while winning 110 matches, they faced defeat in 74 matches. Apart from this, 5 matches were tied while 11 matches were abandoned. If we look at the winning percentage of Team India in ODIs under Dhoni's captaincy, it was 55 percent.
